Dual-Band base antennas

GP-1

DualBand 2M/440MHz base antenna, the smallest dualband base antenna Comet makes

Gain & Wavelength(s)
2M:
  3.0dBi  1/2 wave
440MHz:   6.0dBi   5/8 wave x 2
VSWR: 1.5:1 or less
Max Power: 200 watts SSB/100W FM
Length: 4′ 2″
Weight: 2 lbs.
Mounting Mast Dia: 1.25 – 2.5″
Connector: SO-239
Construction:  Heavy-duty fiberglass

Very compact 2M/440 base antenna, easily hidden.

Perfect for outdoors, attic or closet installations.

Mount pipe acts as shroud to protect the antenna/coax conection from the elements.  Unique “split-thread” lock bolt is supplied to attach the antenna to the mount pipe, the threads compress when installed to keep the bolt from backing out.

GP-3

DualBand 2M/440MHz base antenna

Small profile, good gain, excellent construction…our best selling dual-band base antenna.

Gain:
2M:  4.5dBi  5/8 wave, center phase
440MHz:  7.2dBi  Three 5/8 waves in phase
VSWR: 1.5:1 or less
Max Power: 200 watts SSB/100W FM
Length: 5′ 11″
Weight: 2 lbs. 12 oz.
Mounting Mast Dia: 1.25 – 2.50″
Connector: SO-239
Construction: Heavy-duty fiberglass

Unique “split-thread” lock bolt is supplied to attach the antenna to the mount pipe, the threads compress when installed to keep the bolt from backing out.

GP-3 taken to Mt Everest

Trent Carey  AE7CL

“The photo is of myself at advanced base camp with a GP-3 on a tripod.

Several years ago, I took a pair of GP-3’s and tripods on a climbing expedition with International Mountain Guides to Mt. Cho Oyu.
Mt. Cho Oyu is the 6th tallest mountain in the world, just 30 miles west of Mt. Everest, our approach was from the North through Tibet.

The GP-3s provide communications between camps and to climbers with handheld 2 meter radios. The equipment is now transported seasonally with the climbing Sherpa between Mt Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest base camps.

Great antenna!”

GP-6

DualBand 2M/440MHz base antenna

This is the best all-around antenna combining gain and coverage area at reasonable cost for roof top installations.

Gain & Wavelength(s):
2M: 6.5dBi 5/8 wave x 2
440MHz:  9.0dBi 5/8 wave x 5
VSWR: 1.5:1 or less
Max Power: 200 watts SSB/100W FM
Length: 10′ 2″
Weight: 3 lbs. 8 oz.
Connector: SO-239
Construction: Heavy-duty fiberglass, 2 sections

GP-9 (SO-239 Conn) GP-9N (N-Conn)

DualBand 2M/440MHz base antenna

The GP-9 is the highest gain, dualband fixed station antenna available from COMET.  If you desire the absolute maximum coverage area, this is the antenna to choose.  The radiation pattern is directed to the horizon omni-directionally around the antenna.  However, keep in mind that a high-gain antenna pattern has narrow elevation angle.

In mountainous areas the pattern may not reach valley floors or mountain tops.  If you need to cover areas around the antenna that are a few thousand feet above or below the antenna elevation, the GP-6 may be a better choice due to the wider radiation angle of a lower gain antenna.

Gain & Wavelength(s):

2M:   8.5dBi   5/8 wave x 3
440MHz:  11.9dBi  5/8 wave x 8
VSWR: 1.5:1 or less
Max Power: 200 watts SSB/100W FM
Length: 16′ 9″
Weight: 5 lb 11 oz
Mounting to Mast Size:  1.25″ –  2.50″
Connector: SO-239 (GP-9) or Female N-type GP-9N
Max wind survival: 92MPH
Construction: Heavy-duty fiberglass, 3 sections

A short threaded sleave screws onto the bottom of the antenna providing the antenna/coax connection protection from the elements.

Although hundreds are in use in repeater systems, it was not designed for mountain-top installation where extremely high winds, ice and other extreme conditions exist.  It performs best in low to mid elevation installations where the high gain radiation pattern is most effective.
